What Young Men Need to Understand Before It’s Too Late
There comes a point in every man’s life when he realizes the years moved far faster than he expected. One day he is 18 years old, and full of energy and possibility. Then suddenly he looks up and he is approaching middle age, carrying the consequences of the habits he built, the opportunities he embraced or ignored, the woman he chose to marry, and the standards he either stood for or abandoned.
The truth is that the years between 18 and 30 are some of the most important years of a man’s life. These are not meaningless “throwaway years” for entertainment and self-indulgence, far from it. They are formative years and the decisions made during this time shape a man’s future career, marriage, finances, reputation, health, and character far more than one might realize at the time.
Unfortunately, modern society rarely tells young men this fact. Instead, many are encouraged to remain immature for as long as possible. They are told to avoid responsibility, chase constant entertainment, delay commitment, and live only for temporary pleasure. Then one day they wake up dissatisfied and wonder why life feels so empty.
A man who understands the importance of these years gains an incredible advantage in life. He begins building something while others are drifting through life. He develops discipline while others seek comfort. He establishes standards while others chase approval. Over time, that difference becomes impossible to ignore.
